Enjoy the freedom of an empty park (and avoid the overcrowded gym!)

It’s a regular occurrence every year, that whilst gyms are frustratingly overcrowded in January, local parks and green spaces can be deserted.

If you are a beginner and perhaps self-conscious about being observed by a gaggle of gym members, we recommend training outdoors with a Muddy Plimsolls personal trainer.  With the parks empty and especially quiet at this time of year, no-one will notice you looking sweaty or touching your toes. Read our advice on dressing appropriately for a winter workout.

In our neighbourhood of Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, the only die-hard park users you’ll see during the winter months are dog walkers, nature lovers and Muddy Plimsolls.

When I exercise in the winter, the thing I enjoy most is the peacefulness of exercising outdoors. There’s a sense that the park is there just for you, like your own back garden.
