New Mums – finding time for exercise

Bring Your Baby to your workout
One of the greatest challenges for a new mum is finding time to do everything. She is forced to find new ways of doing things and often compromises, giving up hobbies she enjoys or activities that are good for her.
To help the new mum who wants to lose baby weight, I have developed time-saving strategies that make it easier for her to keep on track with her weight loss and fitness goals, whilst balancing all her other commitments.
1. Combining baby’s walk in the park with exercise
A client of mine brings along her baby to our sessions of personal training in Primrose Hill. He sits up in his pushchair, wide-eyed, watching mummy doing her boxing training. He likes it when mummy whacks the hook and jab pads, or rattles off a set of push ups. There are a huge number of exercises you can perform with just a mat, set right next to the pushchair.
2. Working out at the most convenient time for you
If you choose to workout one-to-one with a personal trainer, rather than a scheduled group or class, then you can dictate when you train. The best personal trainers in London will be flexible and work round your schedule. I train mums looking to lose baby weight at all different times of the day – when junior’s wide awake watching mummy doing split lunges before playgroup and when he’s asleep in the buggy on his afternoon stroll in the park. A flexible training schedule, ensures that new mums can fit in exercise, even on the busiest of days.
3. Planning a shopping trip round an exercise session
Sometimes a new mum looking to lose baby weight, will slot in her training session with me, as a means of getting from A to B. I’ve a personal training Regents Park client who meets me by Chester Gate and concludes the session outside Whole Foods on Parkway, in order to pick up junior’s albacore tuna and other goodies. She combines our training session – performing exercises as we move between locations – with a shopping trip, making the most of the available hours in her day.
