Westbourne Green Trail & Fitness Equipment
Overview
Westbourne Green is located on the Harrow Road, opposite Royal Oak Tube station. The Green affords a useful training space for Westbourne Park or Notting Hill residents that don’t fancy the run to Hyde Park. Maida Vale and Warwick Avenue residents could also use it as an alternative to the, albeit more picturesque, Regent’s Park.
The trim trail’s 9-stations, designed by Playground Facilities Ltd, are placed around a 200 metre running path.
Stations
The exercise stations include 2 pull up bars, a pair of parallel dip bars and 2 sets of angled balance beams. The aerobic step station has 3 different heights.
There is also a sequence of twelve steps placed in a zig-zag pattern but – as they are so far apart – you may have to jump between them. This exercise is only for those confident in their balance. At the end of the trail is a stretching station.
Privacy
Not much. The south side of the space borders the ever-busy Harrow Road. The north side is overlooked by flats. Generally, though the space is populated only by the odd dog walker.
Public Facilities
None, nearby I’m afraid. The nearest I know of are the public facilities found at the top end of Queensway.
Advantages
Use the running track as active rest between stations. Perform an exercise, then jog around for a lap before moving on to the next exercise.
